Training Just That Little Bit Different
50mm lens @ f1.4
Lit by daylight through North facing window and tungsten ceiling light

I’d been passing these flowers every day and, every time I passed them, I said to myself, “I really must get a picture of them”. Eventually I did get around to it and this is the result. As the title says, it was taken with a 50mm f1.4 lens using daylight coming through a North facing Velux window with the ceiling light switched on. It was taken handheld using a shutter speed of, if I remember correctly, 1/25th of a second @ ISO 50. Although they look a bit flat and uninteresting in colour, the whole point of the picture was to convert it to black and white.

Using the black and white conversion tools in Photoshop, adding a curves layer, high pass sharpen and a border from a magazine has turned the shot into something completely different.
